Welcome Back! House Rules: IMPORTANT UPDATE

The Dandy Gent team is delighted to welcome you and all of our patrons back through our doors from Saturday.

We have previously sent out details of some new ‘House Rules’, which still apply:

Since issuing this notice, we have had more clarification from Government, so can now share with you all of the more pertinent points together below.

Please…

  • Only enter the shop at the time of your appointment – not early.
  • Wait outside until that time, observing social distancing.
  • Sanitise on entry and before exit – everything is provided for you.
  • Observe 2M social distancing at all times in the shop – with the exception of your barber, naturally!
  • Wear a mask at all times – following instructions from your barber during your service. For optimum effect – masks should be removed for a beard trim!*
  • Please touch nothing – but your own possessions! Keep your possessions about your person, or at your feet on the floor.
  • Ask a member of staff if you would like to test or look at products closely.
  • Pay by contactless card where possible.
  • Toilets will only be available where we have capacity to clean to the required standard – so please do not rely on these being open at all times. If you require urgent access, we will make a toilet available to you.
  • Apologies – facial shaving is not permitted at the moment.

We thank you for taking the time to read this AND for doing your bit for us and the nation!

See you soon,

The Dandy Gent team!

*PPE – Government states that all barbers must wear a visor only. The wearing of masks and face coverings is our own policy, designed to give added protection and peace of mind to all clients, staff and ensure the shop stays open. This decision will be reviewed regularly and you will be updated when this changes.

Victory is Sweet
We are, of course, delighted that the war on COVID is allowing reduced restrictions, but as you all know continued vigilance is required.

Victory is in sight, but it can be quickly snatched away from us if we are not ‘alert’ to cleanliness and social distancing.  This in mind we have set a list of ‘House Rules’ that we need you to follow whilst in our shops.  These are detailed further down, but first, let us tell you what we are doing to help you…

Dandy competition to cure ‘lockdown barbershop blues’

Midlands barbershop group, The Dandy Gent, has set a challenge for its clients to inject a little self-mockery and lighthearted banter into the Covid-19 lockdown.

Shane, founder and owner of The Dandy Gent, is inviting clients to send in a picture of their currently grown-out hair or whiskers (or both) for inclusion into a lockdown ‘barbershop blues’ photo album that will be available for all to see on its group Facebook page.

Leading by example, Shane and Dandy Gent barbers; Shaun, Mike and Stu, have, somewhat reluctantly, submitted their own pictures for the promotion to kick things off.

“We’re getting messages, comments and texts coming over every day from friends and clients desperately missing their regular trims and cuts – laughing at themselves and each other. We thought this bit of more widespread barbershop buffoonery would be fun.”

There is a reward for the five most popular pictures posted up in the album – each will receive a free post-lockdown ‘urgent VIP’ appointment with the barber of their choice and £20 to spend on Dandy Gent traditional grooming products.

“Let’s see how many pictures we can get, then when we’re back to business, we can post up some more ‘before & after’ pictures too.”

Add your ‘barbershop blues’ pictures to the Facebook Album by sending them to any of the Dandy Gent team by 5pm on 8th May, via:

  • Facebook Messenger on any of the groups’ 4 pages (Irongate, Nuns Street, Nottingham & the group page: facebook.com/thedandygent)
  • Instagram @thedandygent #dandylockdown
  • email to; info@thedandygent.co.uk
  • personal text to your barber if you already have their number.

All pictures will be posted here daily.

Terms:  Submission of your photograph will be taken as permission to post it online on all of The Dandy Gent’s social media channels and website for promo purposes only.  All submissions will be posted in one Facebook photo album and the five winners selected from the most popular (likes and comments). The Dandy Gent team reserves the right to overrule any ‘votes’, for any reason deemed fair by Shane O’Shaughnessy. Prizes are non-transferrable. Bribary, in the form of cash in unmarked notes, will be accepted.

All Dandy Gent shops to offer extended hours on re-opening

Following the lockdown due to COVID-19, Dandy Gent boss Shane O’Shaughnessy has announced that all three shops will open for additional days and hours to get clients ‘back to their best’ as soon as possible.

Each of the 11 Dandy barbers will consider additional times they are able to work for more hours than usual to tackle outgrown hair – as well as the inevitable deluge of ‘DIY rescues’ on the hair and whiskers of frustrated isolators.

The times and days will vary, shop to shop, with Irongate, Derby and Nottingham shops pledging Sunday opening for at least the first month back.

“We are still unsure of when we can get back to our core business, of course,” said owner and founder of The Dandy Gent, Shane. “But when we do return it will be with additional infection control measures as needed – and for additional hours of business wherever we possibly can.”

New opening times and additional barber days will be released at the time of the re-opening announcement, with the three shops’ booking App currently set to re-take bookings on 1st June. This date is not fixed, but subject to further restriction announcements from our Government in the coming days and weeks.

The Dandy Gent’s online shop remains open for business as usual, offering an extensive range of handmade traditional grooming products and accessories to help keep locks conditioned and prepped for their first post-lockdown appointment.
